Sometimes you can fix this error by simply restarting the phone or rebooting it if the issue persists.  How to Turn Off Screen Overlay Detected The Screen Overlay Detected message is displayed on the Samsung Note 5 when the device's built-in function recognizes that a third-party app is using certain features reserved for Samsung devices. To disable all screen overlays on your Note 5, follow these steps:  1. In the Settings menu, scroll down to Display.  2. From there, scroll down to Screen Overlays.  3. Choose Off from the list of options that appears.
