Use VLC to Chromecast

The Chromecast is one of the best ways to stream video and music content to your TV, but it can be difficult to get video files directly onto the device and then into your television set. The VLC media player provides an alternative way to stream video to your TV, which is useful when Chromecast isn’t an option or doesn’t support the media file format you want to use. Read on below to find out how to cast vlc videos to chromecast with this free software tool!

Open VLC Media Player

VLC is one of the most popular media players on the internet, and for good reason. Not only does it offer a wealth of options for playing your movies and music, but it's also free. It can open nearly any video or audio file you throw at it, which makes it a must-have for anyone who needs to play videos that they've downloaded from the internet. The best part? If you have a Chromecast device connected to your TV, you can easily cast those videos right onto your television!

Under Network tab, enter the URL of the video you want to stream

This is the third and final step, where you will stream the video from your computer to your chromecast. To do this, you need two things: 1) a chrome extension called castv2, which can be downloaded here, and 2) a network connection. Once you have both of those things downloaded and installed on your computer, open up castv2 by clicking on its icon in your browser's toolbar.

In the Convert window, click the Browse button and select your Chromecast device

VLC will now convert the file and send it over to your device. Ensure that your PC and Chromecast are on the same WiFi network, then click on the Play button in the Convert window. Once it's done playing, you can use your remote control (or a mouse) to pause or stop playback. To stop casting, click the Stop button in the VLC media player window.
