5 Ways to Fix Your Galaxy S6 or S7 Battery Draining Issues After an Update
The Galaxy S6 and S7 are known for having above-average battery life, but the most recent update to Android 7.0 Nougat seems to have caused some issues with the battery on these phones. Users have reported that their batteries drain much faster than they used to after installing the update, leaving them frustrated and worried about whether they’re ever going to be able to get enough charge back into their phone to use it as they want or need to. Luckily, Samsung has acknowledged the issue and has come up with some potential solutions that should help you get your device back to its normal battery life levels.
1) Check For Apps with Unnecessary Background Services
To start, turn off any apps that you don't need running in the background. This includes social media apps like Facebook and Twitter, as well as streaming services like Netflix and Spotify. These can be turned back on after you've finished using them if you want to keep them from locking up your phone while they're running in the background.
2) Lower Screen Brightness
Don't forget about the most obvious battery-saving tip of all: setting your phone's screen brightness. The brighter the screen, the more power it uses. Lower your display's brightness as much as you can stand and you'll see a big difference in how long your battery lasts.
3) Avoid Putting on Airplane Mode Constantly
You might be tempted to put your phone on airplane mode every time you need some extra battery life, but this will actually just cause more problems in the long run. Airplane mode can actually drain your battery quicker than if you were using it normally because it shuts down all of the features that are draining your battery.
4) Turn Off GPS and Bluetooth
One of the most common issues that people run into after updating their Galaxy S6 or S7 is battery draining. This can be caused by your phone turning on its GPS and Bluetooth when it isn't needed, which in turn drains your battery even faster. To fix this problem, you'll need to go into Settings > Connections > Location Services, and make sure that only High Accuracy is checked.
5) Check for Background Syncing of Data
Check if you have any apps that are syncing data in the background. This is a big one as it can drain your battery and data usage. To find out which apps are syncing in the background, go to settings > application manager > notifications, and scroll through the list of apps until you find one that has background data (or something similar) listed under it. Click on that app and you'll see what sets it has for background data.
