8 Amazing Computer Tricks

If you’re anything like me, you probably spend way too much time and effort trying to get computers to do what you want them to do. It doesn’t have to be that way! The following computer tricks are guaranteed to make your life easier and get you more done in less time, with less effort. Best of all, they take only a few minutes each to learn—you don’t need hours or even days of training before you can use them effectively. So let’s get started! Here are eight amazing computer tricks and tips that will make your life easier...

1) Turn on the Caps Lock light

Turn on the Caps Lock light to help you distinguish between capital and lowercase letters. This will save you from making typos when typing, as it's much easier to spot mistakes. You can turn the CapsLock light on by pressing the caps lock button or by using your keyboard shortcuts, which are usually ctrl+shift. The Caps Lock key is usually in the upper-right corner of your keyboard.

2) Use your keyboard shortcuts

1) CTRL+C: Copy text from current location to the clipboard. 2) CTRL+X: Cut text from current location to the clipboard. 3) CTRL+V: Paste text from the clipboard at the current cursor location.

3) Set up a hotkey for email

Now you can use one keystroke to go back and forth between your email, Word document, or any other program. To set up this hotkey, open the System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts tab. Click the + button under Application shortcuts to add a new shortcut for an app. Select Mail from the list of apps that pops up on the left-hand side, and then select Next message from the dropdown menu of possible actions on the right-hand side.

4) Take Screenshots Faster

1. Windows key + Print Screen: Takes a screenshot of the entire screen and saves it in the clipboard.

2. Shift + PrntScrn: Takes a screenshot of the active window, as well as any open windows on top of it.

3. Alt + PrntScrn: Takes a screenshot of the desktop and any open windows on top of it.

5) Disable your touchpad when using an external mouse

If you're using an external mouse, there's no need to leave the touchpad enabled. To disable your touchpad, go to System Preferences > Mouse & Trackpad and check the box next to Ignore built-in trackpad when mouse or wireless trackpad is present.

6) Hide files in Windows Explorer

Windows Explorer is the go-to place to organize your files. But did you know that you can also use it to hide files? Here's how:

1) Select all the files you want to hide, including their subfolders.

2) Right-click and select Hide, then choose a location where you want them hidden and click OK.

3) You can now move or delete these files without worrying that someone will see them by accident.

7) Disable Nagging Notifications

To get rid of the annoying nagging notifications that pop up when you're using your computer, all you have to do is hold down shift and then click on the notification. This will make it so that the notification never pops up again.

8) Know how to use Quick Access in File Explorer

Do you ever wish that you could open a file directly from File Explorer without having to open it from inside of an application? Quick Access makes it easy to do just that. Simply right-click on the file, select Quick Access, and then select Open With. You'll be able to select which application will open the file next time.
